New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry has refused to rule out Anthony Davis leaving the franchise.
Rumours have been rife over recent weeks that Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics are locked in a fierce battle for Davis’ signature.
Reports are split as to which team has the upper-hand in trade negotiations.
But Gentry refused to speak about the future of his star man while the season is in full flow.
“That’s what you guys talk about,” Gentry said of the trade rumours.
“We don’t talk about it. So he’s here.
“He’s playing on our team. We’re trying to win games.
“That’s the only thing that matters right now.”
LeBron James has revealed how Denver Nugget tried to recruit him in the summer – by sending retro team jerseys.
“The [president] of the team is a very good friend of mine, so he discussed it a couple times,” James said.
“Also, he sent me those throwback jerseys — the white with the mountains on it — he said, ‘You’ll look good in one of these’.
“We’ve been on vacation and things of that nature. We have a great friendship but I didn’t give it much thought.”
Warriors and Celtics warning
Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics fans have been warned not underestimate Denver Nuggets by head coach Mike Malone.
“You are either with us or you are against us,” Malone said.
“We understand when we play these great teams.
“The Warriors fans can come in here, the Celtics fans can come in here, Lakers fans come in here – they take that L on the way out.”
