The Boston Celtics haven’t started off the 2018-19 season as the juggernaut that many expected them to be. However, the team appears to be finally hitting their stride.
Boston found themselves trailing by double digits against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, but were still able to persevere with a very impressive 101-95 victory. As impressive as the win over the Thunder was, life didn’t get any easier for the Celtics with the undefeated Detroit Pistons next on deck. Blake Griffin came into the game leading the NBA in scoring, but Boston was able to neutralize the former Los Angeles Clippers star throughout the contest. Griffin finished with just 7 points and the Celtics came away with a 109-89 win on Saturday night.
It’s not often that Kyrie Irving only scores 3 points and the Celtics win by double digits. However, Irving was focusing more on setting up his teammates and finished with five assists on the night. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting and knocked down three of his seven attempts from beyond the arc in the strong victory.
