The Boston Celtics were expected to be one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference this season. After a slow start, the Celtics appear to be finally finding their stride as a team and finding the chemistry that they’ve been searching for.
On Thursday, the Celtics found themselves matched up with a team that gave them a run for their money during the postseason last year. The Milwaukee Bucks returned the majority of their top talent and added to their frontcourt in the offseason with Brook Lopez and Ersan Ilyasova. However, everything starts and ends with what Giannis Antetokounmpo is able to give them on a nightly basis.
Despite Antetokounmpo’s 33-point effort on Thursday, the Celtics’ three-point barrage proved to be too much. Kyrie Irving led the way with 28 points and knocked down six threes on the night in a 117-113 win for Boston. It also didn’t hurt that the Celtics connected on 24 shots from beyond the arc on the night and simply didn’t stop shooting. Here’s how the NBA media reacted to the action at the TD BankNorth Garden.
