Marcus Morris is questionable for Monday with knee soreness

The Boston Celtics will continue their 2018-19 regular season campaign on Monday night with a match-up against the Orlando Magic, but it sounds like they could be without the services of Marcus Morris, who’s dealing with a bout of knee soreness.

Tom Westerholm of MassLive gave an official update on Morris’ status on Monday morning.

Marcus Morris, now 29 years of age, has looked good through the early stages of this season. He logged 26 minutes in Saturday’s 103.-101 victory over the New York Knicks, scoring 16 points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field (2-of-5 from beyond the arc), six rebounds, and two assists.

Celtics big man Aron Baynes, who is suffering from a right hamstring injury, has already been ruled out of Monday night’s game, which means the C’s could be a bit short-handed in the front-court. If Morris is unable to play, Semi Ojeleye, Jayson Tatum, and Daniel Theis will likely see an uptick in minutes.

In his three appearances with the Celtics this season, Morris has racked up averages of 13.3 points on 45.2 percent shooting (37.5 percent from beyond the arc), 6.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 24.0 minutes per outing.

Though the current variant doesn’t seem to be severe, it must be noted that Marcus Morris had similar knee issues in the early stages of the 2017-18 season.

Monday night’s Celtics-Magic game is set for 7:30 p.m. EST inside TD Garden, with NBATV having live broadcast coverage. Additional information about Morris’ status should be provided sometime before tip.
