The Golden State Warriors are unquestionably the team to beat in the NBA, and that will remain to be the case next season. The Warriors, despite what their amazing amount of success over the past few years project, are not invincible. At some point, they will lose. They escaped an ambush attempt in this year’s Western Conference Finals, wherein they needed seven games and a Chris Paul hamstring injury to get past the Houston Rockets.
While most people think that the Rockets are the biggest threat to Golden State, for former NBA player Jay Williams, it’s the Boston Celtics that present the most danger to Stephen Curry and company.
During an episode of Get Up! on ESPN, Williams, without a hint of hesitation, said that he thinks the Celtics will end Golden State’s rule by winning it all next year.

“I’m picking Boston to win the whole thing next year. If Kyrie and Gordon are healthy, why [doubt their chances]?”
Jay Williams made sure he backed up his prediction with his own assessment, believing that the Celtics’ versatility on defense is going to be the key to Boston taking down the Warriors.
“If you talk about Jaylen Brown guarding the likes of Kevin Durant. They actually match up pretty well. Jayson Tatum can guard the likes of Klay Thompson. You have Terry Rozier who can guard the likes of Stephen Curry, or Kyrie. Granted, DeMarcus Cousins could be a matchup [problem], Baynes and company, you could throw bodies at him. You could try to throw him off his game. They actually, personnel wise, match up better than any other team in the league.”
The Warriors, somehow, got even better with the addition of DeMarcus Cousins this offseason, but in the eyes of Williams, that’s not enough for him to change his bold take. In any case, he raised plenty of eyebrows with that prediction.
