Gordon Hayward and his wife Robyn announced the birth of their third daughter on Instagram today.
The baby came a few days past the due date, which is why Robyn Hayward said on Instagram “Our sweet Nora Mae was a little stubborn on wanting to join us, but she was worth the wait.”
Gordon Hayward missed the road game against the Atlanta Hawks in anticipation of his daughter’s birth. Brad Stevens would say afterwards that it was because of the snow storm that hit the east coast last week and he didn’t want to be stuck out of town.
This daughter will always be tied to the “Daddy’s always happy” gender reveal video on which Hayward seemed less than enthused about his participation.
Little Nora Mae at least has a good sense of timing, arriving on an off day for the Celtics. Today the Celtics hold their first full practice in more than a month due to a long stretch of games every other day. Today is also the first consecutive day off for the Celtics since December 16, 17, and 18, a span long enough to see Aron Baynes exit and return with a broken hand.
The Celtics are preparing to take on the Golden State Warriors tomorrow, hoping to extend their winning streak to six and their home winning streak to 11. The Warriors are coming in off an eight point win over the Washington Wizards.
Hayward won’t see any extended road trips until after the All-Star break, which is also good timing for the newborn. The next road games for Boston are quick one-game trips to New York on February 1, Cleveland on February 5, and Philadelphia on February 12, so he’ll get to spend plenty of time at home with the new baby.
